Credit Cards

Credit Cards are only accepted at a very few major hotels, airlines and some international shops and restaurants. We suggest bringing a sufficient amount of cash for personal expenses. But there are ATMS located mainly in Yangon, Mandalay, Bagan and Inle Lake that accept the international credit cards. Cardholders can withdraw local currency from the ATMS. The exchange of traveler cheques though is very difficult and time consuming. Banks are closed on Saturdays, Sundays and all public holidays.
